* MATCH SUMMARIES * NA ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN (10/11/11) The Lady Tigers wrapped up their regular season schedule on Monday afternoon with a 5-0 victory over Franklin Regional, winning their 11th match in-a-row. Dominant as usual, the Lady Tigers did not lose a single set on the day as Kylie Isaacs, Kayla Becich and Catherine Zhang all posted wins in singles play. The doubles team of Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley picked up a 6-2, 6-0 victory while Julie Arnold and Sydney Boyd notched a 6-0, 6-2 win to complete NA's near perfect performance. The Lady Tigers regular season record was also nearly perfect, finishing with a 15-1 record. North Allegheny will host Latrobe in the opening round of the WPIAL Playoffs today at 3:00 pm. The Lady Tigers defeated Latrobe in the first round of the playoffs last season, 4-1, and will look for a repeat performance this afternoon. MATCH SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * DEFENDING WPIAL DOUBLES CHAMPS BOW OUT (10/7/11) After a spectacular run as WPIAL champions and runners-up in the PIAA Doubles Tournament last year, Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich came up just short of a repeat on Thursday. The dynamic NA duo defeated Caroline Nixon and Vida Komer in the WPIAL quarterfinals by a score of 10-5. Later in the day however, Isaacs and Becich fell to the very good doubles team of Callie Frey and Annie Baich of Mt. Lebanon. The Lady Tigers finish up their regular season schedule on Monday against Franklin Regional. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA CAPS SECTION SCHEDULE WITH WIN OVER NORTH HILLS (10/6/11) The Lady Tigers wrapped up their section schedule with a convincing 5-0 victory over the rival North Hills Indians on Wednesday afternoon. North Allegheny pushes their winning streak to 10 in-a-row with the victory. The Lady Tigers made quick work of the Indians, not allowing their opponent to win a single set. Kylie Isaacs earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory in #1 singles. Kayla Becich and Lily Zhang followed that up with a pair of dominating 6-0, 6-0 wins. In doubles play, Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley posted a 6-1, 6-3 win as Sydney Boyd and Ali Juliano took a 6-1, 6-2 victory to round out the match. The NA Girls end the section schedule with a perfect mark of 12-0. The Lady Tigers are 14-1 overall and cap off the regular season on Monday against Franklin Regional. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS SMASH HAMPTON, 5-0 (10/4/11) The North Allegheny Girls Tennis team defeated the Hampton Talbots, 5-0, extending their season-long win streak to nine matches. After a rainy past couple of days, the weather broke just in time for Tuesday afternoon's competition. The Lady Tigers did not lose a set in winning their fourteenth match of the season. Just as they have for most of the season, North Allegheny benefited from strong singles play. Kylie Issacs, Kayla Becich, and Catherine Zhang all won in dominating fashion, dropping just five games between them. In doubles, Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley defeated Soojin Eyi and Katy Mueller, 6-2, 6-1. Finally, Julie Arnold and Mara Ott capped the sweep of the Talbots, defeating their opponents 6-2, 6-0. The victory pushes North Allegheny one match from a perfect run through Section 2, with the only blemish on their record being a non-section loss at Sewickley Academy on August 31. The Lady Tigers will conclude the section portion of their schedule tomorrow, October 4, when they host the North Hills Indians. Action will get underway at the NASH tennis courts at 3:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BECICH, ISAACS WIN SECTION DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP (10/1/11) Beginning their trek toward another WPIAL Doubles title, senior Kayla Becich and sophomore Kylie Isaacs have won the Section 1 Doubles Championship. The NA duo defeated Pine-Richlands Marlys Bridgham and Laura Feger, 6-2, 6-1 on Friday afternoon to advance to the WPIAL Doubles competition this Thursday. Becich and Isaacs won the WPIAL title last year and finished second in the PIAA tournament. North Alleghenys #2 doubles team made it through to the second round of the section tournament on Friday but lost to Bridgham and Feger of Pine-Richland, 10-1. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA EDGES FOXES, 3-2
(9/27/11) - Against a formidable opponent, the North Allegheny Lady Tigers were able to edge past the Fox Chapel Foxes on Tuesday afternoon, 3-2. Behind the strength of their top lines, NA found a way past the Foxes. At #1 singles, Kylie Isaacs won in straight sets over Rose Wilson, 6-0 and 6-1. Kayla Becich was also a straight sets winner, beating Claire Kinter 6-1 and 6-0. After Fox Chapel claimed wins at #3 singles and #1 doubles, the duo of Sydney Boyd and Ali Juliano provided NA with the victory by taking down Kally Friday and Isabella Vercardi. Despite falling in the first set, Boyd and Juliano bounced back with a pair of 6-2 victories to help North Allegheny to the overall win.
With the non-section victory, the Lady Tigers improve to 13-1 on the season and remain a perfect 10-0 on section play. The WPIAL Section Doubles gets underway on Friday where NA's Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich will begin their WPIAL title defense. As a team, North Allegheny will visit Hampton on Monday. MATCH SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS ROCKET PAST MARS IN RAIN SHORTENED AFFAIR
(9/26/11) - In a rain shortened outing on Monday afternoon, the North Allegheny Lady Tigers stormed the courts and toppled the Mars Planets, 4-0. All but the #2 Doubles match were completed before a downpour halted the action. At #1 singles, freshman Sydney Boyd took advantage of her opportunity with a straight sets win. Catherine Zhang was perfect by posting a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Julie Arnold also played well by earning a 6-2, 6-0 win. In the only completed doubles match, the reigning WPIAL doubles champions Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich breezed by their opponents with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
The Lady Tigers jump their record to 12-1 on the season and 10-0 in section play. North Allegheny will face Fox Chapel on Tuesday in a non-section tilt. MATCH SUMMARY

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * ISAAC'S RUN AT WPIAL SINGLES ENDS
(9/22/11) - After a successful performance in the WPIAL Sectionals last week, Kylie Isaacs' run in the WPIAL Singles Tournament ended on Thursday. Isaacs dropped a 10-2 decision to Nicole Cyterski of Oakland Catholic in the first round. Despite the loss, Isaacs and Kayla Becich, the defending WPIAL Doubles Champs, will like pair up for a defense of their title and a trek toward a state championship as well. Isaacs and Becich finished second in state competition last year. In the meantime, the Lady Tigers will return to action on Monday against Mars.

(9/21/11) - North Allegheny continued their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon with a 5-0 victory section opponent Butler. Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich won in straight sets over Butler's Courtney Gallagher and Laura Brestensky. Becich's win was very impressive as she claimed a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Brestensky. Despite dropping the first set, Catherine Zhang followed with 6-3, 6-4 scores to claim a win over Zoey McCafferty. In doubles action, Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley raced to a straight sets win over Abbey Turner and Megan Kuntz. In similar fashion, Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold took a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Rachel Swain and Rebekah Bright.
North Allegheny improves to 11-1 overall and 9-0 in section play. As a team, the Lady Tigers take to the court again on Monday to face Mars at home. Meanwhile, Kylie Isaacs will compete at the WPIAL Singles Finals on Thursday. MATCH SUMMARY

(9/19/11) - The Lady Tigers had little trouble with the Seneca Valley Raiders on Monday afternoon, on their way to their tenth victory of the season. All of the Lady Tigers won in straight sets, including singles winners Kylie Isaacs (6-0, 6-0), Catherine Zhang (6-2, 6-1) and Mara Ott (6-3, 6-1). The doubles combo of Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley took care of Julia Vandrak and Alexis Brockway by 6-4, 6-2 scores. Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold disposed of Annie Ryan and Shelby Resch with 6-1, 6-2 scores.
The victory lifts North Allegheny to 10-1 on the season, and 8-0 against section competition. The team will return to action on Wednesday at Butler. MATCH SUMMARY

(9/19/11) - With the top three finishers of last week's Singles Sectionals moving on to the finals later this week, North Allegheny sophomore Kylie Isaacs took third place, defeating teammate Kayla Becich in the consolation match, 6-1, 6-4. Pine-Richland's Marlys Bridgham defeated her teammate Taylor Perz in the section final. Both girls will advance along with Isaacs to the WPIAL singles finals, scheduled for Thursday and Friday of this week.

DOUBLES TEAMS FLAWLESS IN LEADING
(9/14/11) - North Allegheny dispatched another section opponent Wednesday, slipping past Pine-Richland, 3-2. As in their first match against the Rams early in the season, the Lady Tigers used the strength of their doubles teams to propel them to a narrow win.
Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, for their third consecutive win as a pairing. Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold battled in their match, needing three sets to dispatch their Rams counterparts, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. On the singles side, Kylie Isaacs defeated Taylor Perz, the top singles player for the Rams, 6-0, 3-6, 6-3, tipping the match to North Allegheny. Issacs previously lost to Perz in straight sets in their earlier meeting this year.
The victory lifts North Allegheny to 9-1 on the season, and 7-0 against section competition. The team will return to action on Monday at home against Seneca Valley. In the meantime, WPIAL section singles matches are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, with both Kayla Becich and Kylie Issacs scheduled to compete. (9/12/11) - North Allegheny faced little resistance from section opponent North Hills on Monday afternoon, handling the Indians with ease, 5-0. Overall, in the five matches played, the Tigers lost just five games total. On the singles side, North Allegheny's Kylie Isaacs, Kayla Becich and Lily Zhang all won in straight sets, 6-0 6-0.
In doubles, Sydney Boyd and Ali Juliano were nearly as solid, winning 6-0, 6-1. Finally, Julie Arnold and Megan Zuley had the longest match of the day. However, they still managed to win comfortably in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Later this week, focus turns towards individual competition as the WPIAL section singles matches are scheduled for Thursday and Friday. However, up first for the Lady Tigers is a date with Pine-Richland. The first time the teams met, North Allegheny squeaked out a win against the Rams, despite losses by their top two singles players, Issacs and Becich. (9/9/11) - North Allegheny won their second straight match and remains undefeated in section play after a 4-1 victory over Mars on Friday afternoon. In singles play, Kylie Isaacs, Kayla Becich and Catherine Zhang all won in straight sets. Mars responded in doubles competition as Alanna Michalski and Bre Beck picked up a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 win over Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley. The NA #2 doubles team of Sydney Boyd and Ali Juliano rounded out the Lady Tigers victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Britany Bunner and Kayla King.

(9/8/11) - After having rainy weather wash out their previous two matches, The Lady Tigers went inside Thursday afternoon, defeating Hampton 5-0 at Lakevue Racquet Club. Kylie Isaacs, Kayla Becich, and Catherine Zhang all cruised in their singles matches, each by a 6-1, 6-0 score. On the doubles side, Ali Juliano paired with Julie Arnold for a 6-4, 6-3 victory. It was Juliano's first match at the varsity level. In the other pairing, Jenn Hofmann and Megan Zuley teamed up to complete the sweep of matches.

(8/31/11) - The Lady Tigers faced their first setback of the season Wednesday afternoon, falling to Sewickley Academy, 3-2, in a non-section match. Kayla Becich was the lone singles winner for North Allegheny, besting her opponent, Samantha Gohl, in straight sets. The reliable doubles team of Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold was also victorious in straight sets. However, a third victory on the day proved elusive for the Tigers, snapping their win streak at five to start the season.
Kylie Isaacs fell in a hard fought match against Sewickley's Eva Sung. After dropping the first set, Issacs fought back furiously to force a third and deciding set. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the match ultimately fell to Sung, defeating Issacs 6-2, 1-6, 7-5.
With the defeat, the tennis team stands at 5-1. 3-0 in the section. They will look to rebound Thursday in a section affair at Mars. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 pm. MATCH SUMMARY

(8/30/11) - The Lady Tigers netted another victory Tuesday afternoon, storming past section foe Butler, 5-0. Singles players Kylie Isaacs, Kayla Becich and Catherine Zhang continued to impress, winning each of their matches in dominating fashion. For the second consecutive match, Zhang did not drop a game. In fact, she has only dropped one game total in her four singles matches this season.
In doubles competition, Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold were again victorious, winning 6-0, 6-2. Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley had the longest match of the day in terms of games, but managed to prevail, 6-4, 6-3.
With the win, North Allegheny improves to 5-0 on the season, upping their section record to 3-0. However, the girls tennis team will have little time to rest, as they travel to Sewickley Academy on Wednesday afternoon for a showdown with the Panthers. The non-section match is scheduled for 3:30. (8/26/11) - North Allegheny Girls Tennis continued its impressive streak to start the season, winning at Seneca Valley Friday afternoon, 5-0. Kylie Isaacs and Catherine Zhang were perfect on the day, not dropping a game in either of their matches. Kayla Becich was nearly just as strong, dropping only one game, on the way to her 6-1, 6-0 victory.
On the doubles side, it was the same story, as the team of Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley won 6-3, 6-0. Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold were also victorious, 6-0, 6-1. Altogether, the Lady Tigers dropped just five games total across the five matches.
North Allegheny ends the first week of the season a perfect 4-0, including section wins over Pine-Richland and Seneca Valley. The team will resume competition on Tuesday afternoon when they welcome a visit from the Butler Golden Tornado. The section match begins at 3:30 from the North Allegheny Senior High School courts.

(8/24/11) - The Lady Tigers won at home for the third consecutive day, downing section rival Pine-Richland, 3-2. North Allegheny swept the doubles competition, as the pairing of Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold maintained their flawless record on the year, winning in straight sets, (6-1, 6-4). Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley had a more difficult time with their opponent, battling back from a first set loss to win in the third and deciding set of their match (4-6, 6-3, 6-4). Although North Allegheny's top two singles players, Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich, lost for the first time all season, Catherine Zhang picked up the slack, soundly defeating her opponent, (6-1, 6-0) solidifying the victory for the Lady Tigers.
The victory lifts North Allegheny to 3-0 on the season, and 1-0 in section play. The girls will have a day off from competition on Thursday before resuming section play Friday when they travel to Seneca Valley. The match with the Raiders will begin at 3:30.

(8/23/11) - For the second consecutive day, North Allegheny Girls Tennis defeated an opponent at home, sweeping every match against Erie McDowell, on their way to winning 5-0. Facing the top player from McDowell, Adriahna Jeffress, Kylie Isaacs won her match (6-2, 7-5). As was the case Monday, Kayla Becich was also victorious in dominating fashion, (6-0, 6-1). In the early going this season, Becich has dropped only five games total in the four sets she has played. Not to be outdone, Catherine Zhang did not drop a game against her opponent, winning (6-0, 6-0). In doubles competition, Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold won for the second consecutive day, while Jenn Hoffman and Megan Zuley also won in straight sets, completing a perfect day for the Lady Tigers. (8/22/11) - The new tennis courts at North Allegheny Senior High School saw their first match action Monday afternoon when the Lady Tigers defeated Upper St. Clair, 3-2. A year after placing 2nd in the PIAA doubles championship, Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich each won again, this time individually as the top two singles players. Isaacs outlasted Panther #1 Megan Adamo, 6-7 (7-2), 6-4, 7-6 (6-4), while Becich defeated USC's Andrea Hammer in dominating fashion, 6-3, 6-1. The doubles team of Sydney Boyd and Julie Arnold was also victorious for the Lady Tigers, defeating Ladyson Scheller and Kelly Burdette in straight sets. The Lady Tigers returns to the courts on Tuesday in a home match against Erie McDowell. Start time is scheduled for 3:00.
