* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS CROSS COUNTRY ANTICIPATING ANOTHER BIG YEAR The North Allegheny Boys’ Cross Country team is running toward another state championship in Hershey when the fall sports season gets underway. The Tigers claimed gold in 2010 and the NA Boys’ are favorites again to return to the top this season. Despite the graduation of standout Ryan Gil, who claimed first place in the state in the individual competition last year, senior Logan Steiner is ready to step in and lead the way. Steiner earned all-state honors last fall and will set the pace on a Tigers squad that also boasts returning seniors Timothy Appman, Tyler Nicotra, Sam Bojarski, and Vinnie Tonzo. Not to be outdone, the Lady Tigers finished third in the state and look to return to the podium again this year. Juniors Alex Gambill and Gabrielle Borza and sophomore Caroline Cwalina are an experienced group of runners that will be bolstered by the return of a healthy Caitlin Carmody who was injured last year and could be one of the best in the WPIAL this season. Competing in the toughest section in the WPIAL, the Tigers Cross Country Team is led by Head Coach John Neff who enters his fourth year as head coach. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Any questions or comments should be directed to Athletic Director |
