North Allegheny senior Connor Smith twirled a two-hit complete game shutout against Penn-Trafford on Wednesday afternoon and the Tigers earned a 2-0 non-section win on the road. Smith improves to 4-0 on the season and extends his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 23.1 innings.

With Smith delivering another gem on the diamond, he got all the offense he needed when Spencer Barnett hit a solo homer, his second of the season, in the fourth inning for a 1-0 lead. The Tigers increased the lead to 2-0 in the fifth inning on an RBI by groundout by Andrew Hart that scored Andrew Dougherty.

Penn-Trafford’s Evan Del Signore was the hard luck loser, permitting only two runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out five batters.

North Allegheny improves to 13-5 overall with the non-section win and will host Upper St. Clair on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
