Posted on:

The North Allegheny baseball team was dealt its first loss of the season on Friday afternoon with a 4-1 non-section loss at Plum.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by David Posey that scored Owen Schall, but the Mustangs scored single runs in the first, second, fourth and fifth innings to claim the victory. The four runs were more than enough for Plum starting pitcher Colin Watson, who earned the victory with six innings of four-hit baseball, allowing only one run with nine strikeouts. Sean Franzi picked up the save with a scoreless seventh inning.

North Allegheny starter Jackson Walsh was saddled with the loss, permitting three runs (two earned) with one strikeout and two walks. Nate Persinger pitched two frames and allowed one run with three strikeouts and three walks.

With the non-section loss, North Allegheny falls to 9-1 overall, while Plum improves to 7-4. The Tigers will look to bounce back on Saturday with a visit to Cumberland Valley at 3:00 p.m.
