Posey’s Wizardry Silences Dragons, 4-0
A day after J.D. Costanzo nearly no-hit Allerdice, junior pitcher David Posey tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout against the Dragons in a 4-0 section win for the North Allegheny baseball team. Lukas Blank’s single in the second inning was the only hit Posey yielded on the day. The Tigers’ right-hander struck out nine batters and walked only two to secure the win in game two of the three-game series and improve his record to 3-0 on the campaign.
Posey received all the run support he needed in a three-run first inning. Senior Spencer Barnett opened the scoring with an RBI double that plated senior Harron Lee for a 1-0 lead. Later in the inning, Posey delivered a two-run single that scored Augie Maslo and Barnett for a 3-0 advantage. Senior Ian Zahorchak added a solo home run in the second inning, his first long ball of the season, to cap the scoring in a 4-0 triumph.
Sophomore Zack Shook was the losing pitcher for Allderdice despite also twirling a complete game. Shook surrendered four runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
With the win, North Allegheny sits at 7-2 on the season and 4-1 in Section 1-6A, while Allderdice falls to 1-8 overall and 0-8 in the section. The Tigers will try for the sweep of the Dragons in game three of the series on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by the North Allegheny Sports Network.
