The playoff-bound North Allegheny baseball team wrapped up the regular season on Saturday with a 9-4 defeat to the Shaler Titans. The Titans broke open a close game with two runs in each the fifth and sixth innings to claim a comfortable victory.

North Allegheny took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning courtesy of a Shaler wild pitch that scored Jake Fischbaugh and a Ben Marsico RBI single that drove home in Blake Young. The Titans answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and held the lead for the remainder of the game. Despite the loss, Young, Marsico, Alex Mesaros and Keegan Phillips each posted 2 for 4 performances in an 11-hit attack for the NA lineup. Marsico, who was also the starting pitcher, was saddled with the loss.

North Allegheny sits at 11-9 overall at the end of the regular season. Shaler, the champion from Section 3-AAAA, improves to 13-5. Both teams await the release of the WPIAL playoff brackets next week.
