Tigers Play Extra, Rally For 8-7 Win Over Moon

North Allegheny played in its second straight extra-inning game and came away with an exciting 8-7 win over Moon on Monday afternoon. The NA Tigers trailed 6-3 in the fourth inning before rallying back to force extra frames with one run in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Ben Marisco was the winning pitcher with three solid innings of relief, allowing one run and striking out six. Michael Lugowski took the loss for Moon, serving up four runs in two innings of work.

Trailing by three runs in the top of the fifth, Jake Fischbaugh singled home Jon Dignazio to cut the Moon lead to 6-4. The NA Tigers tied the game at 6-6 in the sixth inning courtesy of a two-run homer by Dan McCauley, part of a three-RBI day for the senior catcher.

The contest remained deadlocked until the top of the eighth when Bobby Brown drove home Marsico with an RBI single to give North Allegheny a 7-6 lead. Fischbaugh added an important insurance run with an RBI single that plated Blake Young for an 8-6 advantage.  Moon mustered one run in the bottom of the eighth but left the game-tying run stranded at third base as NA held on for an 8-7 triumph.

North Allegheny leaps to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in Section 1-AAAA. Moon falls to 8-6 overall and 2-5 in section play. The NA Tigers are slated to host Hempfield on Tuesday night in a non-section contest, weather permitting.
