Photo Courtesy of Patty Porritt LADY TIGERS WIN WPIAL TITLE The Lady Tigers won the WPIAL Championship with a close victory over second place Moon at Moon Middle School on Saturday. NA scored a total of 147.333 while Moon was close behind with a score of 143.049. NA had lost to Moon in a dual meet earlier in the season. Leading the way for the Champion Lady Tigers were sophomore Tori Bianco who won the floor exercises with a score of 9.667, senior Lauren Gabriel who took first on the bars with a 9.450, and sophomore Kirsten Hauser who won the competition on balance beam with a 9.217. According to NA Coach Mark Paliotta, the Lady Tigers won the title with their performance on floor where NA captured three of the top four places. The Lady Tigers got outstanding performances from the team as they went on to the title. In addition to the scores above, Bianco led NA with an all-around score of 36.683 with sophomore Tiara Chadron close behind with a 36.649. Gabriel posted a 36.251 and freshman Danielle Malter a 36.183 for the winning Lady Tigers. All of the above gymnasts competed in the advanced division where Gabriel added a silver in beam, Chadron a silver in beam and Malter a bronze in floor. Individually, Chadron recorded a 9.4 on vault, a 9.187 on beam and a 9.283 on floor. Junior Rebecca Fritsch added a 9.333 on floor and a 9.2 on vault and Malter a 9.5 on floor and a 9.183 on vault. In addition to their winning scores, Gabriel added a 9.271 on both the beam and floor and Bianco a 9.383 on vault. Freshman Sarah Fritsch recorded a 9.033 on beam. In the Intermediate Division, freshman Sarah Fritsch was third in all-around. In the Intermediate II Division, freshman Brooke Mancuso won the bars event with a score of 8.483 and also took a bronze in floor. The title was the 17th overall for North Allegheny and the sixth under the direction of Coach Paliotta. CONGRATULATIONS

LADY TIGERS BEST BALDWIN, 143.10-139.65 The Lady Tigers traveled to Baldwin on Friday night and defeated the Highlanders, 143.10-139.65. Leading the way for NA was junior Rebecca Fritsch with an all-around score of 35.95. Close behind was sophomore Tori Bianco with a 35.85 with freshman Danielle Malter third with a 35.5. Once again, a number of NA gymnasts performed well and earned scores of 9.0 or above. Rebecca Fritsch posted a 9.3 on bars, a 9.05 on floor and a 9.0 on vault. Bianco recorded a 9.65 on floor along with a 9.2 on bars. Malter scored a 9.5 on floor, sophomore Brianna Gabriel a 9.1 on vault, junior Brittany Wilson a 9.1 on floor, and sophomore Tiara Chadran a 9.0 on bars. With the victory, the Lady Tigers completed the regular season with a final section record of 6-1. NA will compete in the WPIAL Championships to be held on Saturday at Moon Middle School. Competition is scheduled to get under way at 10:00 am. MEET SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS EARN WINS OVER The Lady Tigers were victorious over both Center and Hopewell at X-Cel Gymnastics on Monday night. Sophomore Tori Bianco led NA with a 36.15 all-around score with sophomore Tiara Chadron close behind with a 36.10. Freshman Danielle Malter added a 35.65 with senior Lauren Gabriel posting a 35.60. The Lady Tigers scored 145.7 to 133.30 for Hopewell and 132.8 for Center. A number of NA gymnasts posted scores of 9.0 or better led by Bianco with a 9.55 on floor, a 9.3 on bars, and a 9.0 on vault. Chadron recorded a 9.3 on floor, a 9.2 on vault and a 9.0 on beam while Lauren Gabriel posted a 9.35 on beam and a 9.2 on bars. Junior Brittany Wilson came through with a 9.3 on floor and a 9.0 on bars while junior Rebecca Fritsch had a 9.25 on floor, sophomore Kirsten Hauser a 9.2 on beam and sophomore Brianna Gabriel a 9.0 on vault. With the wins, the Lady Tigers improved to 3-1 on the season. NA will travel to Baldwin on Friday night for a 6:30 pm meet. MEET SUMMARY

The Lady Tigers rebounded from a close loss to Moon with a convincing 142.45-132.10 victory over Fox Chapel at the Trinity Gym on Friday night. Senior Lauren Gabriel led the way with an all-around score of 35.95. Sophomore Tori Bianco was close behind with a 35.55 with freshman Danielle Malter adding a 35.50 and sophomore Tiara Chadron a 35.25 including three scores of 9.0 or above. Individually, Chadron posted a 9.35 on floor, a 9.2 on bars, and a 9.0 on vault. Gabriel recorded a 9.5 on bars and a 9.45 on floor while Bianco had a 9.55 on floor and a 9.3 on bars. Also scoring 9.0 or better were junior Rebecca Fritsch with a 9.3 on floor, junior Brittany Wilson also with a 9.3 on floor, sophomore Kirsten Hauser a 9.3 on bars, and Malter a 9.5 on floor. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS EDGED BY MOON, 142.5-141.9 The Lady Tigers lost their first meet of the year as Moon took a close 142.5-141.9 victory at Moon Middle School on Tuesday night. Sophomore Tiara Chadran led NA with a 35.175 all-around score with senior Lauren Gabriel close behind with a 33.075. Chadran posted a 9.275 on vault while Gabriel recorded a 9.2 on bars and a 9.0 on floor. Sophomore Tori Bianco added a 9.25 on floor, freshman Danielle Malter a 9.2 on floor and sophomore Brianna Gabriel a 9.1 on vault. 138.15-121.00, The Lady Tigers won their opening meet of the 2010 season with a 138.15-121.00 victory over Montour on Monday night at X-Cel Gymnastics. Leading the way for NA was sophomore Tiara Chadron with an all-around score of 37.55 including a 9.6 on vault, a 9.4 on bars, a 9.35 on floor and a 9.2 on beam. Sophomore Tori Bianco added a 36.95 all-around score with 9.65 on floor, 9.5 on vault and 9.2 on bars. Junior Rebecca Fritsch was third with an all-around total of 35.35 including a 9.1 on both vault and bars. A number of NA gymnasts recorded scores of 9.0 or better in the meet. Freshman Danielle Malter posted a 9.55 on floor exercises and a 9.1 on vault. Sophomore Brianna Gabriel added a 9.2 on vault while freshman Sarah Fritsch posted a 9.2 on floor. In addition, junior Brittany Wilson earned a 9.1 on balance beam while sophomore Kirstein Hauser had a 9.1 on bars. The victory got NA off to a good start as they go after the WPIAL title. Next up for the Lady Tigers will be Moon on Tuesday night. The scheduled starting time is set for 7:00 pm at the Moon MS gym. MEET SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * 2009-10 WPIAL GYMNASTICS The Lady Tigers will compete again in the WPIAL along with seven other teams. WPIAL competition will begin on December 17, 2009 and must be completed according to the schedule. The WPIAL individual championship will be held on February 20, 2010, at Moon Middle School. The individual championship is open to all competitors who have achieve the qualifying scores as shown on the WPIAL website at www.wpial.org. All individual qualifying scores for members of teams entered in the WPIAL program must be earned in a regular scheduled meet in which their team competes. No team member can compete as an individual at another school for a qualifying score. Students who participate as an individual or as a member of a team in a gymnastic program other than that of her school while she is participating for the school team shall be ineligible to take part in the WPIAL or PIAA championship events unless she has been in uniform and available to participate as a member of her school team for at least 75 percent of the contests beginning with the team's first interscholastic contest of the regular season. In all dual meets a team may enter five competitors, but only the scores of four of them can count toward the final score of the meet. A. Dual meets with one competition event at a time, alternating competition style will be used, with one exhibition routine per team per event being permitted. B. Dual meets with two competition events running simultaneously, block style competition will be used, with up to five exhibition routines per team per event being permitted. C. Tri meets will have two competition events running simultaneously, block style competition will be used, with up to two exhibitions per team per event being permitted. The official National Federation rule book states that the Olympic order of events be followed, that the home team must compete first on vault and beam. 2009-10 GYMNASTICS ALIGNMENT - 8 TEAMS
