MATCH SUMMARIES O'BRIEN QUALFIES FOR WPIAL FINAL Sophomore Kevin O'Brien shot a 77 at St. Jude GC in Chicora on Tuesday to finish in a tie for third place in the WPIAL Semifinals. With the finish, O'Brien qualified for the WPIAL Finals next Wednesday at Longue Vue CC. Senior Kurt Gingrich posted an 88 and missed the cut. The golfers were playing on a rain-soaked course under windy and cool conditions. The top twelve golfers qualified for next week's final. Tee time at Longvue on Wednesday has been set for 9:00 am The Tiger team will be back in action tomorrow when they travel to Fox Chapel CC to meet Shady Side Academy in a non-section match. The starting time is scheduled for 3:30 pm. WPIAL DIVISION I
SEMIFINALS QUALIFIERS
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * O'BRIEN, GINGRICH QUALIFY FOR WPIAL SEMIFINALS Sophomore Kevin O'Brien and senior Kurt Gingrich qualified for the WPIAL semifinals in the WPIAL Section Qualifier at Treesdale CC on Tuesday. The competition was held on the Orchard and the Grove courses with par 36 for each. O'Brien shot a 76 to finish in second place with Gingrich in third with an 80. Since only three players met the automatically target score of 82, two additional golfers also qualified as each section is guaranteed five qualifiers. The Division I semifinals will be played next Tuesday with more information to be announced later. According to Coach Rittman, "It was a perfect day for golf... (but) the course really played tough." Four additional NA golfers did not make the cut. The Tiger team will be back in action today when they host Central Catholic in a 3:30 pm non section match at Diamond Run GC. WPIAL DIVISION I

Six Tiger golfers will represent North Allegheny this morning at the section tournament at Treesdale CC. Sophomore Kevin O'Brien, senior Clif Dietrick, senior Alex Hendrickson, junior David Lamagna, junior Colton Fedell, and senior Kurt Gingrich will play for the right to advance to the WPIAL tournament. Play will begin at 9:00 am on both the Orchard and the Grove Course. Spectators may walk 25 yards behind players and must stayon the cart path. Spectators may neither speak to nor interact with the players. To advance to the next round, players must shot the target score of 82 or under. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * UNBEATEN PINE-RICHLAND EDGES
TIGERS, The Pine-Richland Rams held off the Tigers, 206-209, in the wind and rain at the Orchard Course at Treesdale on Thursday afternoon to remain unbeaten. Senior Kurt Gingrich led NA with a 37 with senior Alex Hendrickson posting a 40 for the Tigers who came up just short. John Matune and Scott Hilger both shot 39s for the winning Rams. The loss dropped the NA section record to 7-4, the overall mark to 9-5 on the season. Next up for the Tiger team will be the WPIAL Individual Qualifier next Tuesday. MATCH SUMMARY

LEAD Sophomore Kevin O'Brien shot a one under 34, including three birdies, to pace NA to section wins over Butler, 190-196, and New Castle, 190-260, at Diamond Run GC on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Alex Hendrickson added a 37, and junior David Lamagna a 39 for the winning Tigers. Corey Morabito led Butler with a 37. With the wins, NA improved to 7-3 in section, 9-4 overall on the season. Next up for the Tigers is a trip to Treesdale CC this afternoon to meet Pine-Richland in a 3:30 pm section match. MATCH SUMMARIES
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS ROUT NORTH HILLS, 184-210 The Tigers posted the best results of the season on Thursday afternoon at Diamond Run GC as they easily defeated rival North Hills, 184-210. Senior Clif Dietrick and junior David Lamagna led the way with one over 36s. Both golfers eagled the par 5 number 9 on their way to the outstanding rounds. Sophomore Kevin O'Brien and senior Alex Hendrickson were both just a stroke behind at 37. Hendrickson started with a birdie on the first hole while O'Brien finished with a birdie on the final hole. Senior Kurt Gingrich chipped in with a 38 including a birdie on the final hole to finish strong. With the win, NA improved their section record to 5-3, the overall mark to 7-4. Coach Dede Rittman commented, "The team was solid with all the talent and potential coming together for a huge win over North Hills." * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SENECA VALLEY HANDS TIGERS 200-206 LOSS For the second time this season, Seneca Valley defeated the Tigers as they posted a 200-206 victory at Diamond Run GC on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Kevin O'Brien led NA with a three over 35 with junior Colton Fedell two strokes back at 40. Seniors Alex Hendrickson and Clif Dietrick both recorded 42s as NA came up a little short in the section battle. Blake Miller shot a two over 37 to pace the Raiders. The loss dropped the NA section record to 4-3, the overall mark to 6-4 on the season. The Tigers will host rival North Hills this afternoon at Diamond Run with tee off time scheduled for 3:30 pm. FOR The Tigers traveled to Aubrey Dobb's Dread GC in Butler on Tuesday afternoon and captured a 205-209 victory over the Tornado. Senior Clif Dietrick and sophomore Kevin O'Brien both shot four over 40s to pace the Tigers with junior Colton Fedell just a strike back at 41. Senior Alex Hendrickson and junior David Lamagna added 42s as the Tigers won their second straight section match. With the win, NA improved to 4-2 in section play, 6-3 overall. Senior Clif Dietrick led the way with a three-over 38 while senior Chad Weldon was just one stroke back at 39. Senior Alex Hendrickson added a 41 and sophomore Kevin O'Brien a 42 for the winning Tigers. Brian Ketterer was the top Shaler golfer with a 45. The win improved the NA section record to 3-2, the overall mark to 5-3 on the season. The Tigers will be back in action again on Tuesday when they travel to Butler for a 3:30 pm section match. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LATROBE CONTROLS NA IN 201-223 VICTORY The Latrobe Wildcats used their home turn at the Latrobe Country Club to their advantage in a 201-223 victory over the Tigers in a non-section match on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Kevin O'Brien led NA with a 39 but the day belonged to the Wildcats at they handed NA their second consecutive loss. Ryan Staffen shot a 37 and Will Wears a 39 to pace Latrobe to the win. NA Coach Dede Rittman commented, "These will be the fastest greens we play all season!" The loss dropped the overall NA record to 4-3 on the year. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SENECA VALLEY EDGES TIGERS, 202-204 On a very hot and sunny day at Cranberry Highlands GC, the Seneca Valley Raiders were able to defeat the Tigers, 202-204, in a section match on Tuesday afternoon. senior Chad Weldon claimed medalist honors for the Tigers with a 38 while sophomore Kevin O'Brien added a 40 and senior Alex Hendrickson a 41 as NA came up just short. Mike McNulty and Charlie Schade both posted 38s for the winning Raiders. The loss dropped the NA section record to 2-2, the overall mark to 4-2 on the season. The Tigers rebounded from their first loss of the season to defeat Shaler, 205-219, at Pittsburgh National GC on Friday afternoon. Senior Chad Weldon came back from a tough start to shoot a 39 including an eagle on #7 to pace NA with a 39. Sophomore Kevin O'Brien and junior Dave Lamagna both posted 41s for the winning Tigers. Senior Alex Hendrickson and junior Colton Fedell were just one stroke back at 42. Ben Colosimo led the Titans with a 40. The win improved the NA section record to 2-1, the overall mark to 4-1on the season. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * PINE-RICHLAND HANDS TIGERS FIRST LOSS, 191-194 The Pine-Richland Rams were able to hold off the Tigers, 191-194, in a section match at Diamond Run GC on Wednesday afternoon. Senior Alex Hendrickson led NA with a two over 37 with junior Colton Fedell and sophomore Kevin O'Brien just one stroke back with 38s. Ross Montanti paced Pine-Richland with a one under 34. The loss dropped the NA section record to 1-1, the overall mark to 3-1 in the early season. IN Sophomore Kevin O'Brien shot a four over 39 to pace the Tigers to a 202-221 victory over New Castle at the Sylvan Heights GC in the section opener on Tuesday afternoon. Senior Chad Weldon and junior Colton Fedell both posted 40s for the winning Tigers with junior David Lamagna just a stroke behind at 41. Anthony Richards led the 'Canes with a 42. With the win, NA improved to 1-0 in section play, 3-0 overall in early season play. The Tigers will continue section play this afternoon when they host neighborhood rival Pine-Richland in a 3:30 pm match at Diamond Run GC. MATCH SUMMARY
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS CAPTURE SECOND PLACE IN
The Tigers finished in second place in the inaugural Captain's Cup at the Cedarbrook Gold Golf Course on Monday. Senior Clif Dietrick shot a 77 to take third place honors with sophomore Kevin O'Brien finishing fifth after also shooting a 77. A match of cards decided fourth, fifth and sixth places. Junior Colton Fedell posted an 81 to finish in ninth place individually. Dietrick and junior David Lamagna both won prizes for shots closest to the pin during the competition. In the team competition, NA totaled 408 to finish second behind Peters Township's 387. Bethel Park was third and Ringgold fourth in the Division 1 competition. Mohawk took first place in Division 2. The Tigers will travel to Sylvan Heights Golf Course this afternoon to meet New Castle as Section 3 play begins. Match time is scheduled for 3:00 pm. THE 2010

Andrew Renda led the Panthers with an even par 36. The win was the second straight for NA. The Tigers will play in the Chairman's Cup at Cedarbrook on Monday afternoon. Tee times begin at 10:00 am.
