MATCH SUMMARIES GIRLS TENNIS BEATS LATROBE, ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINALS OF TEAM TOURNEY In back to back meetings, North Allegheny again faced Latrobe on Monday and the results were nearly identical to their previous match-up as the Lady Tigers defeated the Wildcats 4-1 in the first round of the WPIAL Team Tennis Tournament. Latrobe started with a 1-0 lead, but the advantage was short lived for the Wildcats as the Lady Tigers dominated the rest of the match. At #2, junior Kayla Becich won in straight sets over Katelyn Hill 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Maddy Adams followed that up by blanking Liz Bereit 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play, the team of Tiffany Kollah and Lizzie Kollah picked up straight set wins, 6-1, 6-0. The combo of senior Alice Agassandian and junior Megan Zuley were victorious as well. For the season, the Lady Tigers are now an outstanding 17-1. North Allegheny will hope to advance even further in the post-season when the Lady Tigers face Mt. Lebanon this afternoon in the Quarterfinals of the WPIAL Team Tournament. The Blue Devils were 5-0 winners over Mars on Monday. Start time for NA’s meeting with Mt. Lebanon is at 3:00 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * GIRLS TENNIS SWEEPS LATROBE, AWAITS WPIAL TOURNAMENT MONDAY The Girls Tennis team swept through another opponent Tuesday, winning all five matches against Latrobe. In fact, Latrobe only managed to win games in doubles competition, as Kylie Issacs, Kayla Becich and Maddy Adams won each singles match by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Victorious on the doubles side were Tiffany Kollah and Liz Kollah, and Alice Agassandian and Jenn Hofmann. Latrobe marked the final regular season contest for the Lady Tigers. The team finished with an astonishing (16-1) record, having lost just nine individual matches all year. Their next challenge will come Monday, at the WPIAL team tournament. As it turns out, the Lady Tigers' last opponent of the regular season will be their first of the post-season. North Allegheny will play Latrobe in the first round of the WPIAL team tournament at the NASH courts at 3 pm.

ISAACS, BECICH WIN WPIAL DOUBLES
CHAMPIONSHIP On Friday afternoon at Pine-Richland, Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich took home the WPIAL Doubles Championship, defeating Megan Adamo and Andrea Hammer of Upper St. Clair in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
After placing second in the Section tournament, Issacs and Becich had a tough mountain to climb in the WPIAL tournament, seeded 11th out of 16 pairs. The duo won handily in the first round, then squeaked by Lisha Gu and Alexa Miller of Shady Side Academy, 11-9, placing them in Thursday's semifinals. On Thursday, Isaacs and Becich defeated the Oakland Catholic team of Nicole Cyterski and Megan Wasson in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Friday's victory was the finishing touch on a wonderful run. With their improbable run through the WPIAL tournament, the girls ensured themselves a spot in the state tournament November 5-6 in Hershey.

JV GIRLS FINISH SEASON UNDEFEATED The JV Girls Tennis Team finished their season Tuesday afternoon, dominating all seven matches against Latrobe, and ending the year with a perfect record (12-0) in competition. The girls were anchored by Ali Juliano, Lily Zhang, Tatyana Yatsenko, Anjie Wang, and Danielle Burns, and the double teams of Lydia Ott/Ashita Sai Vadlamudi and Marissa Bella/Anna Reed. * * * * * * * * * * * * ISAACS, BECICH ADVANCE TO The WPIAL held its Doubles semi-finals on Thursday and the Lady Tigers represented North Allegheny well by sending the team of Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich to Friday’s finals. Isaacs and Becich will not only vie for the WPIAL Doubles title, but will also compete in Hershey for the state crown in November. Maddy Adams and Tiffany Kolah also took part in the semi-finals. Despite a good showing, Adams and Kolah fell in the first round. The WPIAL Doubles finals, featuring Isaacs and Becich, will be held at Pine-Richland Friday afternoon. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * JV GIRLS TAKE FIRST, THIRD, FOURTH, AT FRANKLIN REGIONAL TOURNAMENT Members of the JV Girls Tennis Team took first, third, and fourth place in the Franklin Regional Tournament. The competition ended Monday afternoon with the finals being played at Hempfield. First place winners were Ashita Sai Vadlamudi and Jenn Hoffman, winning their championship match by a score of 10-3. Taking third place were Ali Juliano and Anjie Wang defeating teammates Tatyana Yatsenko and Lydia Ott, 10-7. TIGERS TAKE DOWN Despite having to work double duty on Wednesday, the Lady Tigers beat both Hampton and North Hills 5-0. In a match that was rescheduled from earlier in the week, North Allegheny easily handled Hampton. Freshman Liz Kollah, senior Alice Agassandian, and junior Megan Zuley won in straight sets in singles competition. In doubles play, the team of Kylie Isaacs and Kayla Becich had little trouble, claiming 6-0 and 6-1 victories. Maddy Adams and Tiffany Kollah did their best imitation of the aforementioned, also winning 6-0 and 6-1. Against North Hills, Isaacs, Becich, and Adams were straight set winners in singles play. Tiffany Kolah teamed up with Jenn Hofmann to blank their opponent 6-0, 6-0. Rachel Pearson and Mara Ott combined for a 6-1, 6-4 win. The wins improve the Lady Tigers record to 15-1 overall and 11-1 in the section. As a team, NA will next play at Latrobe on Tuesday, October 12. WPIAL Doubles competition begins Thursday. MATCH

Just as they did in a victory last week to Hempfield, all NA victories came on straight sets. In singles play, freshman Kylie Isaacs at #1, junior Kayla Becich at #2, and freshman Maddy Adams were all victorious. Bechich and Adams won every set by dominating their opponent 6-0. In doubles competition, Tiffany Kollah and Liz Kollah won by 6-2, 6-2 scores at #1. The team of Alice Agassandian and Megan Zuley set down their opponents with 7-5, 6-3 scores at #2. The victory improves the Lady Tigers’ overall record to 13-1 and 9-1 in the section. NA will have a double-header today, facing Hampton at noon and North Hills at 1:30. In the consolation final, the NA team of freshman Maddy Adams and junior Tiffany Kollah defeated the P-R duo of Amy O'Donnell and Daniella Osio to claim third place. The top three doubles teams will advance to the WPIAL Doubles championships next week. The first round matches are scheduled for Keystone Oaks HS with the starting time set for 1:00 pm on Thursday. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * HEMPFIELD NO MATCH FOR LADY The Lady Tigers shut out Hempfield, 5-0, in a non-conference match at the Senior High courts on Wednesday afternoon. All NA victories were in straight sets as the Lady Tigers dominated play. In singles competition, freshman Lizzie Kollah at #1, senior Alice Agassandian at #2, and junior Megan Zuley at #3 all were victorious against the Spartans. In doubles play, it was the team of freshman Kylie Isaacs and junior Kayla Becich winning by 6-0, 6-0 scores at #1. At the number two doubles, it was the team of freshman Maddy Adams and junior Tiffany Kollah matching the 6-0, 6-0 victories. With the win, the NA overall record improved to 12-1 on the season. Next up for the Lady Tigers will be the section doubles tournament to be held at the Senior High courts this afternoon. Matches will get under way at 1:00 pm. The doubles teams led the way with straight set victories losing just one game in the process. At #1 doubles, freshmen Maddy Adams and LIzzy Kollah teamed up to defeat Abby Turner and Zoey McCafferty, 6-1, 6-0. At the number two doubles position, it was junior Megan Zuley and freshman Jenn Hoffman downing Molly Moses and Rebekah Bright, 6-0, 6-0. The singles players also won in straight sets with freshman Kylie Isaacs winning at #1, junior Kayla Becich at #2 and senior co-captain Rachel Pearson at #3. With the win, the NA section record improved to 7-1, the overall mark to 11-1 on the season. The Lady Tigers will continue section play on Monday with a trip to Mars to meet the Planets in a 3:30 pm match. BEFORE Freshman Kylie Isaacs was successful in her first round match at the WPIAL Class AAA Singles Tournament as she defeated Caroline Nixon of Peters Township, 10-3 at Keystone Oaks High School. In the quarterfinals, however, Isaacs wa eliminated by top seed Sara Perelman of Shady Side Academy by a 10-1 score. Perelman will meet Ronit Yorivsky of Plum in the final this afternoon at Pine-Richland High School. The Lady Tigers put their only loss of the season behind them as they shut out Seneca Valley, 5-0, on the road on Monday afternoon. The NA singles players, led by freshman Kylie Isaacs, lost just three games while sweeping the singles matches. Junior Kayla Becich at #2 and freshman Maddy Adams at #3 matched Isaacs with 6-1, 6-0 victories. In doubles play, the Kollah sisters, Lizzy and Tiffany, won in straight sets of Gorczynski and Vandrak at the #1 position. At the number two doubles, senior Alice Agassandian and junior Megan Zuley teamed up for a 6-1, 6-0 victory. With the win, the NA section record improved to 6-1, the overall mark to 10-1. In the consolation match, Marlys Brigham of Pine-Richland def Kaitlyn Craig of Mars, 6-4, 6-1. The top three advance to the WPIAL Individual Singles Championships to be held next Thursday and Friday. Isaacs won a pair of matches on Thursday at the Lakevue Racquet Club to advance to the finals of the WPIAL Section 2-AAA Singles championships. Isaacs downed Murray of Hampton and Marlys Bridgham of Pine-Richland to move on the final. Junior Kayla Becich won her first round match over Ghaznvi of Mars but lost to Craig of Mars in the quarterfinals. Freshman Maddy Adams was the lone NA winner with a 6-0, 6-1 win at #3 singles. The loss dropped the NA section record to 6-1, the overall season mark to 9-1 on the season. North Allegheny will host the WPIAL Section Singles tournament today and tomorrow at the Senior High courts. The scheduled starting time today is set for 1:00 pm. In doubles competition, the Kollah sisters, junior Tiffany and freshman Lizzy, won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at #1 doubles. At the number two spot, senior Alice Agassandian teamed up with freshman Jenn Hoffmann to down Kendall Uhler and Mary Dubar, 6-2, 6-0. The Lady Tigers stepped out of section play on Tuesday afternoon for a trip to Mt. Lebanon where they defeated the Blue Devils, 3-2. All three NA singles players came through with victories to pace the Lady Tigers. Freshman Kylie Isaacs led the way with a straight set victory over Callie Frey at number one singles. At #2, Kayla Becich need three sets but came back to down Sarah Baich, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. In number three singles, freshman Maddy Adams won in straight sets over Annie Baich. In doubles play, the number one NA team of Tiffany and Lizzy Kollah won by forfeit due to illness. Once again, the NA singles players swept the opposition winning all three matches in straight sets. Freshman Kylie Isaacs, junior Kayla Becich and freshman Maddy Adams lost a total of only five games in completing the sweep. In doubles play, the #1 team of junior Tiffany and freshman Lizzy Kollah topped Caroline Ross and Liz Dietrich, 6-3, 6-1. In doubles play, the team of junior Megan Zuley and freshman Jenn Hoffman downed the Raider duo of Julia Vandrak and Shelby Resch, 6-2 and 6-3. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS EDGE PINE-RICHLAND, 3-2 The Lady Tigers posted an important early season victory on Wednesday afternoon when they defeated section rival Pine-Richland, 3-2, on the Pine-Richland courts in the 2010 section opener. Victories in singles play by junior co-captain Kayla Becich and freshman Maddy Adams coupled with a key victory at the number two doubles gave NA the win. In singles play, Becich won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0, over Daniela Osio at the number two singles position. At number three singles, Adams downed Sneha Tyer, 6-1, 6-0. The #2 doubles team of junior Megan Zuley and freshman Jenn Hoffman came back after losing the first set, 6-4, to win the next two for the important victory.. The win gave NA a 1-0 record in section play, 2-0 overall. The Lady Tigers will continue section play tomorrow afternoon when they host Seneca Valley at the Senior High courts. Freshman Kylie Isaacs led NA to a 4-1 non-section victory over McDowell with a victory in the #1 singles match in the season opener at the Senior High courts on Tuesday afternoon. Both NA doubles teams and freshman Maddy Adams were victorious for the winning Lady Tigers as NA completed a successful start to the 2010 season. Isaacs posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory over the Trojans' Daraja Hill while Adams took a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Maggie Erven at #3 singles. In doubles play, freshman Lizzy Kollah teamed up with senior Alice Agassandian to win at #1 while the team of junior Megan Zuley and senior co-captain Rachel Pearson won at the #2 doubles position. The Lady Tigers will begin section play this afternoon when they visit section rival Pine-Richland. Last year, the teams split the section matches and shared the section title.
