Also selected to the Division 1 North squad were junior attack Jose Rodriguez, senior attack Blaine Simmer, senior midfield Brandon Hoskinson, junior midfield Andrew Rullan, senior defense Ian Cully, and senior goalie Matt Rahenkamp. * * * * * * * * * * * * * CENTRAL UPSETS TIGERS, 11-10, The Central Catholic Vikings defeated NA, 11-10, in a WPSLA semifinal contest at Newman Stadium on Wednesday night. There were four lead changes in the game, but Central's Jimmy Morton scored the game winner with 6:40 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Tigers scored two early goals but trailed by one at halftime, 5-4. NA fought until the end but came up a goal short. Senior attack Jason Faber scored three goals to pace the Tigers with sophomore attack Jose Rodriguez and junior midfield Andrew Rullan adding two each. Junior midfield Brian Viletto, senior midfield Brandon Hoskinson, and senior attack Blaine Simmer each scored for NA. With the loss, the Tigers completed their season with a final record of 17-5. NA was the regular season Division I North Champion. CONGRATULATIONS TO COACH RULLAN AND THE TIGERS FOR A GREAT SEASON!!!! WPSLA PLAYOFFS

TIGERS OVERCOME SLOW START TO DEFEAT SHADY SIDE ACADEMY, 13-6 To listen to a replay of the game, click here! Junior midfield Andrew Rullan scored four goals and assisted on another to lead the Tigers to a 13-6 victory over Shady Side Academy in the WPSLA Quarterfinals at Newman Stadium on Tuesday night. Senior attack Jason Faber had a goal and three assists with senior attack Glenn Stanzione adding a goal and a pair of assists. The Tigers got on the board early when Stanzione set up Faber in the middle of the Shady Side zone for a man up goal that put NA on top, 1-0, at the 8:49 mark. Rodriguez made it 2-0 with a right handed shot from the left side from 12 yards out with 7:15 remaining. The Indians scored with 6:24 left when Seth Bernstein scored from the right side to cut the NA lead to 2-1 after one quarter. Early in the second quarter, Faber set up Rullan in the middle to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead with 9:02 remaining. Both teams had man up advantages but could not score until late in the quarter. NA had a goal disallowed because of a man in the crease at the 5:13 mark. Shady Side finally broke through when Bernstein finally scored on a man up with just 1:49 left in the half. The Indians had cut the deficit to 3-2 but would get no closer. The Tigers opened a 5-2 lead at halftime thanks to goals by Stanzione and Simmer in the last minute of play in the half. NA broke the game open early in the third quarter. Junior Brian Viletto hit the net with a left handed shot from 10 yards just 34 seconds into the second half to increase the Tiger lead to 6-2. Rullan's second goal, on an assist by Faber, made it 7-2 a little over a minute later. Simmer scored his second goal of the game to increase the lead to 8-2 at the 9:57 mark forcing SSA Coach Peter Hoffman to call a time out. The Indians responded with a pair of goals with Jeff Caruso and Grant Fitzgerald finishing to cut the Tiger lead to 8-4. Stanzione set up Rullan for his third goal as NA opened a 9-4 lead after three quarters. In the final period, NA Head Coach John Rullan inserted a number of second-team players into the game. Rullan assisted on Rodriguez's second goal to make it 10-4 at the 7:59 mark. It took only 12 seconds for Rullan to win the face off and race the length of the field to score his fourth goal to increase the margin to 11-4. Kris Massaro and Mike Stern answered with tallies for the Indians to cut the lead to 11-6 with just 4:47 remaining. Senior Brian Territ got on the board with a nice move from the left side to restore the margin to six at 12-6 with 4:24 on the clock. Viletto's second goal finished the scoring as the Tigers went on to a 13-6 victory. After a slow start, the Tigers turned up the pressure in the second half. Rullan continued to excel at winning face offs and giving NA a majority of the possessions. Senior Matt Rahenkamp was tough in goal making ten saves. The Tiger defense played well with senior Ian Cully leading the way with six forced takeaways while sophomore Patrick Coleman had two forced takeaways and five ground ball wins. For his overall play in the game, the North Allegheny Sports Network selected Andrew Rullan as the Player of the Game. With the victory, the Tigers improved their overall record to 17-4 as they moved on to the Division 1 semifinals. NA will host Central Catholic on Wednesday, May 31, at Newman Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 8:00 pm. Fox Chapel will play Greensburg Central Catholic in the Division 2 semifinals at 6:00 pm also at Newman Stadium. GAME SUMMARY

In a battle of division leaders, the Tigers built an early 6-1 lead and held off the Upper St. Clair Panthers to earn a hard-fought 15-13 victory at Newman Stadium on Friday night. In the cold and rain of Senior Night, junior attack Jose Rodriguez scored five goals and senior attack Jason Faber added four more to pace NA. Senior midfield Blaine Simmer and Brandon Hoskinson both scored twice and recorded three assists for the winning Tigers. The Tigers came out strong, scoring three goals in the first 4:25 of the contest. Simmer set up Hoskinson from behind the goal at the 10:06 mark to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead. Rodriguez made it 2-0 from a tough angle along the goal line a little over a minute later. Simmer circled around and scored after coming out from behind the goal to extend the margin to 3-0. After a Tiger penalty, Upper St. Clair's Trevor Yealy scored a man-up goal to cut the lead to 3-1. Junior midfield Andrew Rullan answered quickly as he took the face off and raced through the Panther team to score from eight yards out just 13 seconds later. Rodriguez scored his second goal on an assist from Simmer with NA a man up to make it 5-1 with 3:56 still remaining in the quarter. Senior attack Glenn Stanzione set up Faber's first goal at the 2:59 mark to increase the lead to 6-1. The Panthers came back with two quick goals in the final minute, by senior Mike Sciulli and David Zangrelli on a rebound, to cut the margin to 6-3 after a hectic first quarter. Early in the second quarter, Tom Fackelthal brought the Panthers back to within two with a good individual effort at the 10:10 mark. Faber answered with his second goal on an assist from Hoskinson to extend the margin back to three at 7-4. Scuilli countered with a quick shot from 12 yards away to cut the lead to 7-5 less than a minute later. Rodriguez then took over the game scoring two consecutive goals to boost the lead to 9-5 with 1:52 remaining. Junior Brian Viletto came out from behind the net to score with 20 seconds left as the Tigers took a 10-5 lead to the intermission. The Tigers got into early trouble in the third quarter because of penalties. After Pete McCann had cut the lead to 10-6 just 22 seconds into the quarter, Yealy tallied his second goal on an assist from Matt Barkas with Upper St. Clair two men up. Barkas set up Zangrelli for his second goal with USC up a man to cut the NA lead to 10-8. With NA called for yet another penalty, Yealy completed his hat trick to make it a one-goal game with 4:47 remaining in the period. The Panthers then committed a penalty and the Tigers made them pay. Faber scored his third of the game to push the lead back to two at 11-9 with 2:54 left in the period. Sciulli answered with his third goal with just 18 seconds left as USC cut the NA lead to 11-10 after three quarters of play. The fourth quarter saw both teams slow their offense. Hoskinson found Rodriguez open and the NA junior scored his fifth of the game to put the Tigers back ahead by two, 12-10. Scuilli came back again with another quick score from 13 yards out to cut the margin to 12-11 with 8:57 remaining in the game. Hoskinson responded with a quick spin move and score from 12 yards to push the lead back to two, 13-11, at the 6:56 mark. Viletto added his second goal of the game a little over a minute later as NA increased the lead to 14-11. Jared Cipriani kept the Panthers in the game with a long run and score at the 3:58 mark. Simmer answered by setting up Faber down the middle for his fourth goal to give the Tigers a 15-12 lead with just 1:16 remaining. Sciulli came back with his fifth goal of the game but time ran out on the Panthers as the Tigers came away with a 15-13 victory. It was a good team win for the Tigers. In spite of giving up 13 goals, senior Matt Rahenkamp made some key saves at critical times in the game as NA never lost the lead. Rullan was dominant on face offs throughout the contest. On defense, senior Ian Cully and sophomore Patrick Coleman came up big particularly in the fourth quarter. For his offensive efforts in the game, the North Allegheny Sports Network selected Jose Rodriguez as the Player of the Game. With the win, the Tigers completed regular season play with a 16-4 overall record. NA enters the playoffs as the North Division 1 Champion and will host Shady Side Academy on Tuesday night. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS SCORE 12-5 VICTORY OVER SHADY SIDE ACADEMY The Tigers won their eighth game in the last nine starts with a 12-5 victory at Shady Side Academy on Thursday afternoon. With the win, NA wrapped up the Division 1 North title. The Tigers record in division play ended with a 5-0 mark, the overall record improving to 15-4 on the season. NA will host the tough Upper St. Clair Panthers tomorrow night at Newman Stadium. The North Allegheny Sports Network will be there to broadcast the game LIVE with the pre-game show beginning at 8:15 pm. Game time is scheduled for 8:30 pm. NA will open the 2006 playoffs next Tuesday when they host Shady Side Academy in first round action. More details later. * * * * * * * * * * * * * NA ROLLS OVER PETERS TOWNSHIP, 13-3 After a tough one-goal loss to #1 Franklin Regional, the Tigers rebounded with a 13-3 rout of Peters Township on Saturday night. The win was the seventh in eight games for the Tigers and improved their overall record to 14-4. NA will be in action again on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Shady Side Academy to meet the Indians in a division contest. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TOP RANKED FRANKLIN REGIONAL EDGES TIGERS, 7-6 The #1 ranked Franklin Regional Panthers scored a late goal to break a 6-6 tie and defeat the Tigers, 7-6, at Newman Stadium on Monday night. Senior attack Jason Faber scored two of his three goals in the fourth quarter to tie the game before the Panthers got the game winner. The game went back and forth throughout the evening with the Tigers holding one-goal leads on two different occasions. With the Panthers up 6-4 midway through the fourth quarter, Faber struck twice to even the score. Senior goalie Matt Rahenkamp was outstanding in goal to keep the Tigers in the contest. It was a good overall team effort by NA as they came up just a goal short. The loss dropped the overall NA record to 13-4 on the season. Senior attack Jason Faber scored four goals to lead the Tigers to a 13-1 divisiion victory over Sewickley Academy at Newman Stadium on Thursday night. Junior attack Jose Rodriguez and junior midfield Andrew Rullan added three goals each in the easy victory. The Tigers wasted no time in taking the lead as Rullan took the ball after the opening faceoff and raced down the right side. No Panther defender got in his way allowing Rullan to beat Sewickley goalie Clark Goodman in the upper right hand corner just fourteen seconds into the contest. Less than two minutes later, senior midfield Brandon Hoskinson scored from ten yards away to make it 2-0. Faber scored the next three goals as the Tigers took control of the game. Senior attack Blaine Simmer set up Faber from behind the goal at the 8:45 mark to make it 3-0. Senior attack Glenn Stanzione assisted on the next goal, a hard shot from 15 yards out, at the 6:15 mark. Less than two minutes later, Faber scored from right in front of the goal to give NA a commanding 5-0 advantage. Hoskinson set up Rodriguez in front of the Sewickley net at the 2:08 mark to make it a 6-0 NA lead. Rodriguez got his second on transition just 12 seconds later to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead after one quarter. In the second quarter, junior midfield Brian Viletto found the net at the 10:43 mark to push the margin to 8-0. At this point, the Tigers went into a ball possession mode stressing passing and looking for good shots. Simmer set up Rullan at the 8:54 mark to make it 9-0. With 4:04 left, Rodriguez sent a perfect cross-field pass to Rullan at the side of the net and the NA midfield completed his hat trick to give the Tigers a 10-0 lead. Faber's fourth goal, with NA a man-up, with 1:51 completed the first half scoring with the Tigers holding an 11-0 lead. In the second half, Tiger coach John Rullan used his entire bench as NA continued to dominate. Early in the quarter, Rodriguez recorded his third goal of the game again on transition to make it 12-0. With this goal, the 12-goal run went into effect with a running clock except for time outs. Sophomore long stick middie Patrick Coleman finished the Tiger scoring with a blistering shot from 20 yards away to give NA a 13-0 lead. Brad Watts finally put Sewickley on the board with just 52 seconds left in the quarter. There was no scoring in the final quarter as the Tigers went on to the 13-1 victory. It was a dominating performance by NA as they controlled play for most of the game. Senior goalie Matt Rahenkamp played the first half while junior goalie Sam Mershon was in net for the second half. Neither goalie had much work as Sewickley posted only five shots at the NA goal. For his efforts at the offensive end, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Jason Faber as the Player of the Game. With the win, the Tigers improved their division record to 4-0, their overall mark to 13-3 on the season. Senior attack Jason Faber led the way with five goals with junior attack Jose Rodriguez adding three. Also scoring for the Tigers were senior attack Brian Territ, junior midfield Ryan Bennett, and junior midfield Brian Viletto. Junior midfield Andrew Rullan and the Tiger middies dominated play including faceoffs as NA limited Bethel to just two goals. The win improved the NA record to 12-3 on the season as they get ready to host Sewickley Academy on Thursday night. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS CRUSH CENTRAL, 9-2, The Tigers avenged a loss to Central Catholic last year in a big way on Saturday afternoon at Newman Stadium when they defeated the Vikings, 9-2. Junior attack Jose Rodriguez and junior midfield Andrew Rullan each scored three goals to pace the Tigers. Adding goals to the Tiger total were senior attack Jason Faber, senior midfield Brandon Hoskinson, and senior attack Blaine Simmer. The NA defense held the Vikings in check without a goal until the second half. Leading the way were defensemen senior Ian Cully, sophomore Mike Passodelis and senior Andrew Stypula. Midfielders junior Darren LePere and sophomore Patrick Coleman aided the effort with good defensive play. With the win, the Tigers improved their division record to 3-0, their overall mark to 11-3 on the season. NA will travel to Bethel Park tomorrow night for an 8:00 pm contest. Game time is set for 7:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS TOP TRINITY, 15-2, FOR The Tigers overwhelmed Trinity, 15-2, at Newman Stadium on Tuesday night to win their third consecutive game against WPSLA opponents. The win improved the overall NA record to 10-3 on the season. The #2 ranked Tigers will host Central Catholic on Saturday afternoon in an important division contest. Game time is scheduled for 2:30 pm. NA - 12 SENECA VALLEY - 7 The Tigers defeated Seneca Valley, 12-7, at Seneca on Sunday afternoon. Senior attack Blaine Simmer led the Tigers with five goals while junior midfield Andrew Rullan added three more. Junior midfield Darren LePere and senior midfield Brandon Hoskinson also scored for the Tigers. The Tigers came out strong and built an early lead and the defense held off the Raiders. Senior defense Andrew Stypula, senior attack Glenn Stanzione and senior defense Ian Cully had solid games for NA winning nine ground balls and forcing three turnovers. LaPere and Hoskinson aided the defensive cause by winning four ground balls and forcing two turnovers. On Friday night, the Tigers defeated Pine-Richland, 14-8, in the rain at Pine-Richland. NA built a 9-2 halftime lead on their way to the victory. The two wins improved the NA record to 9-3 on the season as they get ready to host Trinity tonight. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * MT. LEBANON EDGES TIGERS, 5-4 The Tigers traveled to Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday night and dropped a tough 5-4 decision to the Blue Devils. NA opened up a 2-0 lead before Lebo came back with five straight goals. The Tigers cut the lead to 5-3 at halftime. In the second half, the Tiger defense, led by senior Andrew Stypula and Ian Cully, shut down the Blue Devils and kept them scoreless. NA was able to score twice to cut the margin to 5-4, but Lebo held on for the victory. Senior attack Blaine Simmer led the Tigers with three goals and an assist while senior midfield Brandon Hoskinson scored the other NA goal. The loss dropped the NA overall record to 7-3. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA SCHOLASTIC The Tigers will play again in the Western Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association (WPSLA).
