In the 400, Kelly Langhans finished third with a time of 56.41. In the pole vault, Sean Gil placed third with a leap of 15'. Junior Garrett Larkin earned a fifth place in the shot put while senior Max Brown was sixth in the 1600. In other NA results, junior Kristen Zeleznik finished in a tie for 18th in the pole vault while junior Maura Higgins was 19th in the triple jump. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TIGER ATHLETES! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LANGHANS SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN QUALIFYING RACE Junior Kelly Langhans broke her own school record when she posted a time of 56.21 in a qualifying heat at the PIAA Individual Championships on Friday at Shippensburg University. The finals will be held today with action getting under way at 9:45 am In other girls' results, junior Sydney Schwab finished in 8th place in the javelin with a toss of 123'. Senior Michelle Diez was seventh in her heat in the 800 while the 1600 meter relay team finished fifth in a preliminary heat. Neither qualified for the finals. In boys' competition, senior Max Brown won his heat in the 1600 with a time of 4:17.03 to advance to the finals. Senior Adam Hambrick threw the discus 153'1" to finish seventh in the competition. Senior Evan Scott came in seventh in his heat in the 100 and failed to advance. In today's action, junior NA record holder Kristen Zeleznik will compete in the pole vault and will junior Maura Higgins in the triple jump. Langhans will go for the gold in the 400 finals. In boys' action, Brown will run for the title in the 1600 and 3200. In field events, junior Sean Gil will compete in the pole vault and junior Garrett Larkin in the shot put. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * PIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE DECIDED
Five members of the boys' team and four Lady Tigers along with the 1600 meter relay team will compete today and tomorrow at the PIAA Individual Championships at Shippensburg University. For the boys, senior Max Brown qualified for both the 1600 and 3200 while senior Evan Scott will run in the 100. In the field, junior Sean Gil qualified for the pole vault, senior Adam Hambrick for the discus, and junior Garrett Larkin for the shot put. In girls' events, junior Kelly Langhans will run in the 400 while senior Michelle Diez qualified for the 800. As mentioned, the 1600 relay team will also run. In field events, junior Maura Higgins is in the triple jump competition, NA record holder junior Kristen Zeleznik is in the pole vault and junior Sydney Schwab qualified for the javelin. Track events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 am on Friday and 9:45 am on Saturday. Field events will begin at 9:00 am on each day. * * * * * * * * * * * * * BROWN WINS 1600 AT WPIAL INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Senior Max Brown won the 1600 and finished third in the 3200 to lead NA at the WPIAL Individual Championships at Baldwin on Thursday afternoon and evening. Junior Garrett Larkin was second in the shot put and junior Sean Gil second in the pole vault. The top four qualifiers plus those from five through eight that better the qualifying standard will advance to the PIAA Individual Championships to be held next weekend (May 26-27) at Shippensburg University. Senior Evan Scott was third in the 100 with a time of 11.32 while junior Adam Hambrick was fourth in the discus with a toss of 153-7. Both Scott and Hambrick qualified for the state finals. Sophomore Patrick Morgan was 7th in the 3200 and senior Billy Knight took 8th in the pole vault, but neither met the PIAA standard. For the Lady Tigers, senior Michelle Diez was second in the 800 with a time of 2:17.31 while junior Kelly Langhans captured second in the 400 in a time of 57.37 to qualify for the PIAA championships. Junior Kristen Zeleznik broke her own school record in the pole vault with a vault of 11'3" to finish third. Junior Jade Hambrick was third in the discus to qualify, but sixth in the shot put to just miss the qualifying distance. Junior Maura Higgins took 4th in the triple jump and junior Sydney Schwab was fourth in the javelin to advance while the 1600 relay team finished fifth but just beat the state qualifying time to earn a trip to Shippensburg. Several Lady Tigers just missed the cut off with fifth place finishes. Senior Kelley O'Brien in the 1600 and freshman Cody McCoy in the 300 hurdles were just shy of the required mark. Other Lady Tigers who placed but were short of the PIAA standard were sophomore Ginny Thistle who finished sixth in the discus and junior Marissa Butler who came in eighth in the 800. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE NA ATHLETES FOR A FINE PERFORMANCE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS FINISH SECOND TO NORWIN IN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS; BOYS THIRD After waiting for four days because of inclement weather, the final event of the WPIAL Team Championships was completed on Tuesday afternoon at Slippery Rock University. The Lady Tigers took first and second in the pole vault, but Norwin was able to take third and hang on to defeat NA, 75.5-74.5. It was the first time in six years that the Lady Tigers did not win the title, losing by the slimmest of margins. Against the other teams in the final, NA defeated Butler, 93-57, and Latrobe, 106-44. In boys' competition, the Tigers downed Baldwin, 128-18, to capture third place. NA lost to champion Latrobe, 77-72, and to Butler, 81-66. The WPIAL Individual Championships will be held tomorrow at Baldwin beginning at 2:00 pm. CONGRATULATIONS TO COACH NEFF AND THE TIGER TEAMS FOR A GREAT SEASON!!!!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGERS QUALIFY FOR WPIAL INDIVIDUAL FINALS The Tiger teams qualified a number of athleties for the WPIAL Individual Finals to be held at Baldwin on May 18. For the boys, 17 individuals and two relay teams (400, 3200) qualified led by senior Max Brown who won the 1600 and was second in the 3200. Sophomore Geoff Greco qualified in both the high and triple jumps. Taking first place in the qualifier were senior Adam Hambrick in the discus, junior Sean Gil in the pole vault, and junior Garrett Larkin in the shot put. For the Lady Tigers, seventeen individuals and two relay teams (400, 1600) also qualified. Leading the way for NA were double qualifiers senior Kelley O'Brien in the 1600 and 3200, junior Jade Hambrick in the discus and shot put, and freshman Cody McCoy in both hurdles. Finishing in first place were junior Kelly Langhans in the 400, senior Michelle Diez in the 800, sophomore Maria Nolan in the high jump, and the 1600 relay team. Junior Kristen Zeleznik tied her school record of 11'0" in coming in second in the pole vault. The Tiger teams will go for the WPIAL Team Championship tomorrow at Norwin High School. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * GIL SETS RECORD AT BALDWIN INVITATIONAL
Junior Sean Gil continued to set records in the pole vault as he broke a year old record at the Baldwin Invitational on Friday by matching his school record of 16'1". Gil had three chances at 16'3" but failed. The boys' team posted a fifth place finish behind champion Erie Cathedral Prep. Senior Adam Hambrick placed third in the discus, junior Garrett Larkin was fourth in the shot, and the NA 400 meter relay team was fifth.
The Lady Tigers won the team title with a narrow 49.5 to 49.0 margin over Penn Hills. Junior Kelly Langhans set a new school record with a 56.52 while coming in second in the 400 while senior Michelle Diez earned silver in the 800. Senior Kelley O'Brien was a fifth-place finisher in the 1600. In the field, junior Kristen Zeleznik was fourth in the pole vault. The 1600 meter relay team was third. The Tigers will be in action again on Tuesday when they will compete in the WPIAL Northern Qualifier at Butler. Meet time is scheduled for 2:00 pm. The WPIAL individual finals will be held at Baldwin on May 18. The team championship finals will be held at Norwin on Thursday with the starting time set for 3:30 pm. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGER TEAMS ADVANCE TO WPIAL TEAM FINALS Both the boys' and girls' teams were victorious in first round WPIAL Team Playoffs at Newman Stadium on Wednesday afternoon to advance to the Team Finals on Monday. The boys defeated Kiski Area, 79-71, and New Castle, 102-48. Junior Sean Gil led the way with another school record in the pole vault as he vaulted 16'1". Senior Max Brown won both the 800 and 1600 to pace the Tigers on the track. Adding first place points for NA were sophomore Justin Taylor in the 3200 meter run, junior Garrett Larkin in the shot put, senior Adam Hambrick in the discus, sophomore Geoff Greco in the triple jump, and senior Nick Henderson in the long jump. The 3200 meter relay team was victorious. The Lady Tigers knocked off Kiski Area, 101.5-48.5, Penn Hills, 110-40, and West Allegheny, 111-39. Junior Kelly Langhans won the 400, freshman Dakota McCoy took the 100 hurdles, and senior Michelle Diez the 800 meter run to lead NA on the track. The 3200 meter relay team won their event. In the field, junior Maura Higgins won the long jump and junior Kristen Zeleznik took the pole vault. In the finals, the boys' team will take on Baldwin, Butler and Latrobe while the Lady Tigers will meet Norwin, Latrobe and Butler. The finals will be held on Thursday at Norwin with meet time set for 3:30 pm. The WPIAL Individual Qualifying meet will be held on Tuesday at Butler. WPIAL TEAM TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP
CLASS AAA - GIRLS
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * TIGER TEAMS WIN SECTION TITLES Both Tiger teams won the section title with victories on Tuesday at Shaler. The boys defeated Shaler, 123-18, and Hampton, 126-15, to wrap up the section championship with a record of 7-0. The Lady Tigers equaled the boys with victories over Shaler and Hampton. NA defeated the Titans, 90-42, and the Talbots, 110-22. The girls' squad also posted an unbeaten record of 7-0 in winning the section title. The Tigers will be busy the next couple of days. A number of NA athletes will be competing in the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. This is the first time NA will be represented in the prestigious event and Coach John Neff said, "We're excited about it!" From the boys' team, junior Sean Gil will compete in the pole vault, junior Garrett Larkin in the shot put, and senior Adam Hambrick in the discus. From the Lady Tigers, junior Sydney Schwab will be in the javelin, junior Jade Hambrick in the discus, and the girls' 1600 meter relay team of seniors Michelle Diez and Lindsay Appel, junior Kelly Langhans, and freshman Dakota McCoy will run in the event. The Tiger team, excluding several members from above, will be in Erie on Saturday morning to compete in the McDowell Invitational. The WPIAL Team Playoffs will begin next week for both NA teams. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS FIRST, TIGER BOYS SECOND AT BUTLER INVITATIONALS Both Tiger teams had success at the Butler Invitationals held last weekend at Butler High School. In the boys' meet on Friday, the Tigers finished second behind Erie Cathedral Prep in the 42nd Annual Butler Invitational. Leading NA were junior Sean Gil in the pole vault and senior Adam Hambrick in the discus where both Tigers won gold. The Lady Tigers won the championship of the 5th Annual Butler Invitational on Saturday. Leading the way for NA was junior Jade Hambrick who won both the shot put and discus. Junior Kelly Langhans took the 400 while junior Sydney Schwab finished first in the javelin. The 3200 and 1600 relay teams were also victorious for the winning Lady Tigers. 42nd ANNUAL BUTLER

TIGER TEAMS WIN MOON The Tiger teams scored 117 points to runnerup Seneca Valley's 106 to win the Moon Mixed Relays at Moon High School on Wednesday afternoon. Center was a distant third with 67 points. The Tiger teams will compete in the Butler Invitational meets this weekend. The boys' meet is set for Friday with the starting time scheduled for 3:00 pm. The Lady Tigers are scheduled for Saturday with the starting time set for 9:00 am. MOON MIXED RELAYS TEAM STANDINGS
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * GIL, ZELEZNIK SET RECORDS IN POLE VAULT AS TIGER TEAMS DOWN NORTH HILLS AND SENECA VALLEY Juniors Sean Gil and Kristen Zeleznik set school records for the pole vault Tuesday afternoon at Newman Stadium. Gil vaulted 16' to lead the Tiger boys' teams to section victories over North Hills, 96-54, and Seneca Valley, 91-59. Zeleznik cleared 11' to pace the the Lady Tigers to victories as they crushed North Hills, 118-32, and Seneca Valley, 101-49. With the twin wins, the Tiger teams improved their section records to 5-0 as they remained unbeaten. The Tiger teams will compete in the Moon Mixed Relays this afternoon with meet time scheduled for 3:30 pm. Be sure to check
the Photo Gallery for photos * * * * * * * * * * * * * * WPIAL TRACK AND FIELD - 2006 The Tiger teams will compete again in Class AAA along with 50 other teams. Individual competitors will continue to qualify for the state championship on a basis of AAA or AA classification. The top two teams from each section will enter WPIAL team championship play. If two teams tie for second place, the winner of head-to-head competition will enter the tournament round. Multiple way ties will be broken in the following manner: a. Section records of the
tied teams will be compiled. All multiple team meets scheduled in regular or post-season play will be scored as individual dual meets. (e.g. each team competes against all the others.) A tie breaker system for dual meet regular season and dual meet post season meets has been established. Ties are broken by the following: a. Greater number of first
place winners When three teams are scheduled in regular or post-season play, each will be scored as an individual dual meet. If each team earns one win and one loss in the double scoring method, the first step of the tie breaker will be total score for the day. If a tie persists, the regular steps of first, second and third place finishers will be applied. The following qualifying standards have been established for boys and girls in Class AAA for entry into the individual qualifying rounds:
