Early in the first quarter, the Lady Tigers took a 4-0 lead on a jumper by junior guard Chandler Caufield and a steal and basket by junior forward Zoe Calabrese.  After a layup by Mackenzie O'Donnell cut the lead to 4-2, senior guard and Florida State recruit Olivia Bresnahan drove the middle and scored to tie the game.  After Calabrese picked up a second foul, senior forward Alex Blumer came off the bench to hit a jumper to put NA back ahead by two.  After Katresa Savisky tied the game on a jump shot, Bresnahan drove again to put the Tornado back ahead by an 8-6 count.  Cassie Cygan's field goal pushed the lead to four, but Aiken answered with a pair of free throws to make it 10-8 with 1:56 remaining in the quarter.  After Cait Baxter scored on a layup, Bresnahan missed four straight foul shots but Savisky dropped in a layup to push the margin to 14-8.  Neither team scored again in the quarter as the Tornado took the six-point lead into the second period.

After Blumer opened the second quarter scoring with a put back, the Tornado extended the lead quickly to 18-10 on a fast break layup by O'Donnell and another drive along the baseline to the hoop by Baxter.  NA crept back to within three from the foul line with Aiken hitting a pair, junior Paige Hufnagel one of two, and Brennan two to make it an 18-15 game.  Bresnahan picked up her third foul and went out of the game with 4:44 left in the half.  A layup by Cygan and another driving hoop by Baxter pushed the margin to 22-15.  A baseline jumper by Aiken and two free throws by Brennan cut the lead to 22-19 as the half ended.

Just six seconds into the third quarter, Bresnahan picked up her fourth foul and did not re-enter the game until two minutes into the fourth stanza.  Aiken hit a triple to tie the game at 22-22 just 23 seconds into the half.  Two foul shots by Cygan pushed the lead to 24-22, but the Lady Tigers tied the game again on free throws by senior guard Alysia Libby and Brennan.  Savisky's layup put the Tornado back ahead, but Aiken drilled a long triple to give NA a 27-26 advantage.  Savisky drove again and scored, by Brennan's layup gave the Lady Tigers a 29-28 lead with 3:07 remaining in the quarter.  Cygan came back with a coast-to-coast driving layup to restore a one-point Butler lead.  Calabrese answered with a put back as NA jumped back ahead, 31-30, with 2:15 left.  Savisky answered with another layup to push the Tornado to a 32-31 lead.  With 1:10 left, O'Donnell dropped in another layup to put the Tornado ahead by a 34-31 count.  As time was running out, Blumer cut the lead to one with a short jumper.  Butler took a 34-33 advantage to the fourth quarter.
