            August 20, 2007 Minutes

             Opening Remarks

Minutes were approved from the May 29, 2007 Booster Meeting.  Rose Woolley introduced the Officers for 2007-2008.

Busses for Away Games

There is a possibility that we could get another bus for the Erie McDowell and Latrobe games.  The price includes the bus transportation plus game ticket and would be $20 for the Latrobe game and $25 for the Erie McDowell game.  There will be a sign-up sheet, and the money will need to be collected by the end of the week.  We are also looking into buses for the Upper St. Clair and Butler games.  The Upper St. Clair game is on a Thursday night and will be televised.

Signs

We are looking into vinyl signs to hang on fences or in the gym for games, as well as a Velcro sign for the teams to run through as they come onto the field/court.  The football and basketball boosters will be contacted to see if they can help with the cost. 

Fundraising

We have chairpersons for Sarris and Betsy Ann.  Looking into an Outback fundraiser.  If anyone is interested in chairing a golf outing, Rose Woolley has information on a seminar being held September 6 on how to go about hosting a golf outing and what is involved.  Please see Rose if interested. 

Looking  for a place to host a wine tasting fundraiser. 

Car washes are scheduled for August 25, September 15 and September 29 at the Jiffy Lube in Wexford.  Proceeds will go to the Varsity cheerleaders individual escrow accounts.  If  Jr. Varsity is interested in scheduling a car wash, Rose will provide information.

Spirit T-shirts – Patti Amos will order the T-shirts.  We must order a minimum of 500.  Cost is $4.50 and we would sell them for $8.00.  Trying to get an official date to do a “blackout” where the students and fans would wear the spirit t-shirts at a home game.  All proceeds will go to the Boosters.

Car Wash Coupons -  Looking into fundraisers through Jerry’s Car Wash and Cleantown.

Treasurer’s Report

Patti Amos distributed the escrow statements.  One sheet contains the items that each girl ordered for clothing.  There is a $200 charge for Varsity cheerleaders which is for Nationals.

Mini-Camp

Diane Thumma and Marilyn Wagner were thanked for all of their hard work with Mini-camp.  Diane did an informal poll as to why 40% of the girls from 2006 did not return.  Reasons given were vacation, friends not participating, not interested anymore.  We also have competition with other camps going on at that time.

Clothing

Cindy Roberts reminded everyone that the full balance due in escrow accounts must be paid in full in order to receive clothing.  Coaches want all girls to have white ribbons.  They are $1.50.  They would also like the Varsity and Jr. Varsity to have the white long-sleeved shirt.  These are not included in this bill.  They are $10.  N.A. headbands are $5 and gloves are $3.50.  Freshmen and Varsity wool jackets are not in yet.  Socks, bodysuits and spankies were all given to squad reps.  Shoes have been given out. 

Squad Reports

Varsity (Jane Marroni) – Clothing and megaphones will be distributed after the meeting, including an instruction sheet on how to decorate the megaphone.

 Junior Varsity (MJ Pelusi) – Parents meet briefly after the Booster meeting.  There will be a meeting Thursday, August 30^th at the Panera in Wexford at noon to discuss ideas for community service.  Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.

Freshmen (Janine Cavanaugh) – The girls met their new coach.  She plans to meet with the parents next week. 

Tailgate

Jean Brown distributed flyers for the tailgate party which is to be held on Friday, Septemer 14^th for all family members.  It is important that you RSVP so that the food can be evenly distributed.  We are in need of card tables for the evening.   Please contact Jean regarding that.
