Senior Taylor Gaspar scored three goals to lead the Lady Tigers to a 5-0 victory over Greensburg Salem in a section game at Newman Stadium on Monday night.  Juniors Steph Ertzberger and Strealy Clark also scored for NA.  Senior Erin Conwell earned the shutout in goal for the winning Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers got off to a slow start as Greensburg Salem controlled play in the early going.  The only shot that the Lions got off, however, went wide.  NA had trouble clearing the ball until Ertzberger got free on a long run into the striking circle at the five minute mark.  On the ensuing penalty corner, Gaspar scored her first goal on a penalty corner with senior Kelly White passing to senior Lauren Umble who set up the score with a stick stop.  Gaspar scored again a minute and 12 seconds later when she blasted in a shot from just inside the circle to beat GS goalie Barbara Brunetta.  NA had numerous chances later in the half.  Ertzberger was robbed by Brunetta at the 14:24 mark.  With 8:24 remaining, Ertzberger and senior Christy Knable had good scoring chances but could not convert.  Ertzberger had another good opportunity at the 6:00 minute mark but her shot went wide.  In the last minute before halftime, junior Amy Antimarino was stopped by Brunetta ,and the teams went to the intermission with the Lady Tigers holding a 2-0 advantage.

Early in the second half, the Lady Tigers continued to pressure the Lion goal.  White had two chances in the first minute and came back at the 25:59 mark with another good shot that Brunetta stopped. Strealy Clark got off a good shot at the 22:17 mark but again Brunetta made the save.  Ertzberger began to control play in the center of the field, and it paid off in two more good scoring opportunities.  Brunetta made the save with 19:40 left and then robbed Ertzberger with a kick save at the 15:45 mark.  Gaspar finally broke through with her third goal of the night, second on penalty corners, to increase the NA lead to 3-0 with 12:36 left.  Greensburg Salem had a great chance to score with 7:12 left when junior Kim Ryan got behind the NA defense and came in alone against senior goalie Erin Conwell.  The Lady Tiger goalie was equal to the occasion, however, and made a good kick save to preserve the shutout.  The Lions would not threaten again.  With just 3:37 left, Ertzberger's hard work paid off when she beat Brunetta with a high shot from the left side to make it a 4-0 game.  Thirty-one seconds later, it was Strealy Clark found the far corner of the net from the right side just inside the circle to complete the scoring.

It was a dominating performance by the Lady Tigers.  NA had 8 penalty corners to just one for the Lions.  The Lady Tiger defense held Greensburg Salem to just two shots during the course of the game.  The win was the third straight against WPIAL competition and improved their section record to 2-0.  The Lady Tigers will travel to Norwin on Thursday afternoon to meet the Knights in a sectiion contest.  Game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm at Sunset Elementary School.
