CHAMPIONS * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS CAPTURE
The Lady Tigers won their fourth WPIAL championship in the last six years with a victory at Moon Middle School on Saturday. Senior Kelly Stiger finished third and sophomore Sarah Wilson fifth in the all-around competition to lead NA to the title. Junior Beth Bishop was first in the all-around in the Intermediate-II (Silver) Division. In individual events, Stiger scored a 9.6 to win the vault, a 9.0 for fourth on beam, a 9.4 for fifth on floor, and a 9.05 for seventh on bars. Wilson posted a 9.4 for fourth on vault and a 9.25 for 8th on floor. Freshman Gillian Carr scored a 9.1 on beam for third place and a 9.2 for 9th on floor and placed tenth in the all-around competition. Sophomore Leigh Bauer earned a 9.25 for sixth on vault and a 9.0 for 8th on bars. Freshman Lauren Gabriel recorded a 9.15 for 5th on bars and a 9.0 on the balance beam to also earn 5th place. Sophomore Linnea Homa placed second in the Intermediate - I (Gold) Division and posted a 9.05 for 5th on vault and a 9.1 for second on floor.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS TOP BALDWIN AND FOX CHAPEL The Lady Tigers remained unbeaten in WPIAL action with two wins on Friday night at Rising Star Gymnastics. NA downed Baldwin, 147.25-135.75, and Fox Chapel, 147.25-122.4. Leading the way was senior Kelly Stiger with a 37.15 all-around score. Close behind was sophomore Sarah Wilson with a 36.95 followed by sophomore Leigh Bauer with a 36.3. In the two victories, the Lady Tigers posted sixteen scores of 9.0 or better. Wilson was over 9.0 in all four events with a 9.3 on floor, a 9.25 on vault, and a 9.2 on both bars and beam. Kelly Stiger had a meet high of 9.65 on floor with a 9.5 on vault and a 9.2 on beam. Bauer recorded a 9.5 on floor along with a 9.3 on vault while freshman Lauren Gabriel posted a 9.1 on both floor and bars. Freshman Kara Steiger came through with a 9.4 on floor and a 9.05 on vault with freshman Gillian Carr recording a 9.1 on bars and a 9.0 on floor. Sophomore Linnea Homa scored a 9.15 on floor. It was an impressive performance for the Lady Tigers as they get ready for the WPIAL Championships. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * LADY TIGERS WIN TWO WITH VICTORIES OVER CENTER AND HOPEWELL The Lady Tigers improved their section record to 6-0 with victories over Hopewell and Center at Monaca Turners on Thursday night. NA scored 143.85 with Center scoring 136.0 and Hopewell 87.15. Leading the way for NA were freshman Kara Stiger with a 36.6 all-around score and sophomore Sarah Wilson with a 36.4. Freshman Gillian Carr was third with a 34.35. Wilson topped the individual events with three scores over 9.0 --- a 9.5 on bars, 9.3 on floor, and a 9.0 on vault. Kara Stiger recorded 9.5's on both the vault and floor while sophomore Linnea Homa added 9.0s on the beam and floor. Carr recorded a 9.45 on floor and a 9.2 on vault with senior Kelly Stiger scoring a 9.0 on bars. Freshman Lauren Gabriel posted a 9.1 on floor to complete a good showing by the Lady Tigers will eleven scores of 9.0 or better. The Lady Tigers will compete in the Moon Invitational beginning tomorrow morning at 11:00 am at Moon Middle School. MEET

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * WPIAL GYMNASTICS - 2006-07 The Lady Tigers will compete again in the WPIAL against seven other teams. WPIAL competition will begin on December 7, 2006 and must be completed according to the schedule. The WPIAL individual championship will be held on February 10, 2007 at Moon Middle School. The individual championship is open to all competitors who have achieved the qualifying scores posted on the WPIAL website. All individual qualifying scores for members of teams entered in the WPIAL program must be earned in a regular scheduled meet in which their team competes. No team member can compete as an individual at another school for a qualifying score. Students who participate as an individual or as a member of a team in a gymnastic program other than that of her school while she is participating for the school team shall be ineligible to take partin the WPIAL or PIAA championship events unless she has been in uniform and available to participate as a member of her school team for at least 75 percent of the contests beginning with the team's first interscholastic contest of the regular season. In all dual meets a team may enter five competitors for each event, but only the scores of four of them can count toward the final score of the meet. 1. Dual meets with one competition event at a time, alternating competition style will be used, with one exhibition routine per team per event being permitted. 2. Dual meets with two competition events running simultaneously, block style competition will be used, with up to five exhibition routines per team per event being permitted. 3. Tri meets will have two competition events running simultaneously, block style competition will be used, with up to two exhibition routines per team per event being permitted. The official National Federation rule book states that the Olympic order of events be followed, that the home team must compete first on vault and beam. GYMNASTICS ALIGNMENT - 8 TEAMS
