The Rams took an early 1-0 lead on a foul shot by 6-8 senior Eric Duerr.  Senior Adam Neugebauer put NA on top for the first time when he stole the ball and converted a driving layup.  After Nick Madia hit a shot from the corner, Connolly drained a long trey to push the Tigers to a 5-3 advantage at the 5:49 mark.  Duerr hit one of two from the line, but Hoffmann answered with a strong move under the hoop to extend the lead to 7-4.  Eric Schlegel came of the Ram bench to drain a trey and tie the score at 7-7 with 1:22 remaining in the period.  Masuga answered with a trey as NA regained the three-point lead at 10-7.  Founds drove the lane, scored  and then added the foul shot to make it 13-7.  Brian Felker hit a jumper with time running out as the Rams cut the lead to 13-9 after one quarter of play.

Founds drove the lane for another hoop and Hoffmann scored under the basket to push the NA advantage to 17-9 early in the second quarter.  After Felker made one of two from the line and Duerr scored from under the hoop, junior Dan Kusnyer hit a pair from the line to push the lead back to seven at 19-12.  Duerr got loose for another basket with 4:10 remaining, and Felker dropped in another pair of free throws as the Rams closed to within three at 19-16.  Junior Jeff Finke scored two straight baskets to push the margin back to 23-16 with just 42 seconds remaining in the half.  Foul shots by point guard Brett Matson and Duerr closed out the first half scoring as the Tigers took a 23-18 advantage to the intermission.

The Rams came out strong early in the third quarter to score six straight points to take a 24-23 lead.  Baskets by Matson, Felker and Duerr put PR back ahead.  Hoffmann came back with another nice move under the hoop to put NA back on top, 25-24.  Matson answered with a trey as PR went back ahead, 27-25.  Hoops by Masuga and Hoffman gave the Tigers a 29-27 lead with 2:45 left in the quarter.  The Rams then went on a 10-3 run.  Duerr tied the game at 29 with a short jumper, and Felker drained a trey to make it 32-29.  After a foul shot by Schlegel, Duerr scored again to give the Rams their biggest lead at 35-29.  Finke came back with a key three to bring the Tigers to within three at 35-32.  Matson's two free throws with 2.8 seconds left gave the Rams a 37-32 advantage after three quarters of play.

The Tigers opened the fourth quarter with ten straight points to recapture the lead, 42-37.  Connolly led the rally with seven of the ten points.  After Connolly scored to cut the lead to three, Founds drove and scored the layup and then added the foul shot to tie the game at 37-37.  Connolly drained a long trey to put the Tigers of top, 40-37, and then drove for another hoop to make it 42-37 with 6:15 remaining.  After a Ram time out, Felker hit a pair of foul shots to cut the margin to 42-39.  A foul shot by Hoffman and two by Masuga pushed the margin to 45-39.  Hoffmann scored again under the hoop to extend the lead to 47-39 with 4:46 left.  The Rams rallied, however, as they scored eight straight points to tie the game.  A foul shot by Duerr, two free throws by Felker and a three by Matson cut the lead to 47-45 with 3:36 left on the clock.  Duerr hit a baseline jumper to tie the game at 47-47 at the 3:02 mark.  Connolly came back to give NA the lead, 49-47, with 2:51 remaining.  After a Ram miss, Masuga drove for a score to push the margin to 51-47 with just 1:37 left.  Brandon Bove drove the lane and banked in a short shot to cut the margin to two just six seconds later.  After an offensive foul against the Tigers, the Rams had a chance to tie but could not convert.  On the next Tiger possession, the Rams forced a turnover.  PR had three chances to tie the game but could not score.  Hoffmann had a key block on Duerr and the Tigers picked off the rebound.  Founds made two key foul shots with 15.6 left to push the lead to 53-49.  After another Ram time out, two more shots missed and time ran out.  The Tigers picked up a key home section victory with the 53-49 win over the Rams.

It was an exciting finish as the Rams came close, but the Tiger defense prevailed in the end.  The Tigers had a tough shooting night, making only 15 of 57 shots.  For the Rams, Duerr connected on only 6 of 22 and four of nine from the line.  For his efforts, particularly in the fourth quarter, the North Allegheny Sports Network named Ted Connolly as the Player of the Game.

With the win, the Tigers improved their section record to 3-0, the overall mark to 6-3 on the season.  NA will play in the McKeesport Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday.  In the round robin format, the Tigers will meet West Mifflin on Wednesday night at 5:00 pm, and Western York on Thursday night at 6:45 pm.  These times have been changed from the original.
